Dr. Michael Weinberg (a.k.a. Dr. Mike) is a native Midtowner, having attended Vollentine Elementary, Snowden Middle, and Central High. Like father, like son, Dr. Mike started his optical career working in his dad’s practice when he was in high school. He attended Memphis State University, but returned to Midtown to complete optometry school at the Southern College of Optometry. Upon completion of his doctorate in optometry in 1996, Dr. Mike led his dad’s practice as the primary doctor until 2002.
Dr. Mike and wife Robbie began developing the concept of The Eclectic Eye in 2000, and spent two long years finalizing architectural, business, and marketing plans before opening the store in 2002. The business keeps both he and Robbie busy, but when not working, they enjoy spending time with their two kids, Fannie Leigh and Eli (and shuttling them from lessons to practices, and other Grace-St. Luke’s activities). Always active in the community, Dr. Mike is a member of the 2008 Leadership Memphis Executive Class, a program aimed at connecting Memphis leaders to each other and to the community.
If you’re ever behind Dr. Mike on the road, you may notice his license plate, which reads “OPTOCOP.” That’s because for more than 15 years, he’s served as a reservist with the Memphis Police Department. So in addition to dilating your eyes in the store, if you run into him after a long night on the town, he may just check to make sure your eyes are NOT dilated outside of the store!
Dr. David Adler originally started at The Eclectic Eye as a fourth-year clinical intern, where he excelled in his work with patients. He now serves as a full-time optometrist, where he is responsible for delivering the highest level of eye health and vision care possible, including fitting patients for eyewear, treating all eye conditions, and educating patients.
Dr. Adler earned an economics degree from Emory University and completed optometry school at the Southern College of Optometry in Midtown Memphis. He’s an active member of the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, and the Tennessee Optometric Association. Dr. Adler also enjoys providing his services at community health fairs and vision screenings. When he’s not assisting patients or volunteering, you can find Dr. Adler outdoors – fly-fishing, playing tennis, golfing, scuba diving, and hiking with his dog, Ukiah.
Dr. Landon Wallace is the latest optometrist to join The Eclectic Eye team and is responsible for providing complete vision care, including the treatment and management of ocular disease, pre- and post-op management, patient education and eyewear fittings.
Previously, Dr. Wallace served as a resident at the Memphis VA Medical Center, where he was responsible for supervising optometry externs, fitting specialty contact lenses and providing patient care. He earned his bachelor's degree in biology at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark. and completed his optometry degree at the Southern College of Optometry in Midtown Memphis.
He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians and the West Tennessee Optometric Physicians Society. When he's not working, Dr. Wallace enjoys providing free vision screenings in the community, playing basketball, traveling with his wife and cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks football team.
